Our team has researched the information about the ICT which makes me know its importance in education. Now we will show and explain the finding to you from three key points, which is listed below.

What age do we live in? As a person who lives in 21th century, therefore, is not strange for the information explosion. Yeah! The information age is coming now! Bill Moyers(1989) referred to a report that stated “there is more information in a single edition of the New York times than a man or woman in the sixteenth century had to process in the whole of his or her life ”(cited by Lenox, 1993,p.312). I think the opinion describes the age we live in is valid. Maybe another report open out the information age and how to suit it, which is concluded by a small group of American leaders—primarily from education and librarianship. In that report, the authors:

1.      Explained the enormous impact of the information explosion on all people.

2.      Emphasized repeatedly the need for all people to become information literate, which will be told in detail below.

3.      Stressed that this nation’s economic independence and quality of life were becoming increasingly dependent on all of its citizens becoming lifelong learners.

What do we need in the age? As we know, we are bombarded with massive amouts of information each day in the Information Age. Then What do we need in the age in order to meet the challenges of the 21st century?

(1) For individual; Firstly, we should become information literate. Information literate people are those who have learned how to learn. They are not only able to recognize when information is needed, but they have the ability to use ICT to identify, locate, evaluate, and use effectively information needed for the particular decision or issue at hand. Therefore, they are empowered for effective decision making, freedom of choice, and full participation in our society. Secondly, we should become lifelong learners. The traditional education provides us a knowledge base. However, we need more than just a knowledge base in the 21st century. We also need ICT for exploring it, connecting it to other knowledge bases, and making practical use of it.

(2)For society; ICT would lessen the gap between the haves and have-nots, for instance, the educational inequalities. Because greater access to more information for all people would ultimately eliminate educational inequalities, and the subsequent rippling effect on the workplace and society, in general, would produce a stronger, more stable economy and a more cohesive society. In conclusion, ICT is needed to help us become information literate and lifelong learners in the Information Age

What can ICT help? The American president believes instructors must help America’s learners be prepared to meet the challenges of the 21st century. He saying, ‘every classroom in America must be connected to the information superhighway with computers and good software and well-trained teachers.’ With ICT all teachers will have the training and support they to help students using computers. All teachers and students have their own modern multimedia computers in their classrooms and all the computers will be connected to the information superhighway. All this can help learners get more information in the information age.

The utilitarian Sims of ICT in education are to help the learners become competent, confident, responsible and ceitical, to prepare the learners for the knowledge society by making them adaptable users of ICT, to encourage the learners to develop the appropriate social skills.

The research on the use of ICT shows: ICT improved teaching and learning relevant to the information economy, successful develop cognitive skills, develop new forms of learning such as self-managed, cooperate learning and lifelong learning. Also ICT improved forms of trashing and learning relevance for the information economy.

To sum up, the ICT should be used in education, which makes us easier adjusted to the age of information explosion.
